How to Break a Pursuit
- Corners beat straights. Pursuit AI in these games is usually faster than you in a straight line and worse than you at turning. Take the tight route.
- Use traffic as a wall. Threading a gap that closes behind you is the cheapest way to lose a follower.
- Do not stop to turn around. Any manoeuvre that costs you speed hands the chase back. Commit to the direction you are going.
- Learn the roadblock tells. Most games telegraph a block a second before it appears — a siren cue, a minimap marker. That second is the whole margin.
- In top-down games, look ahead of the car, not at it. The camera gives you more warning than your reflexes do if you use it.
